nice view

There are two things I love about these pictures.

One, is the sweet baby sitting in the chair.

Two, is the cool chair we bought at a local estate sale 2 weeks ago. It's going to be a perfect bedroom chair in a new house.

This is what I see when sitting at my desk. Earlier this year, we rearranged my home office, and I now look out the french doors. Before I was staring at the wall. I highly recommend facing a window if at all possible in your home office. Does wonders for the mind and mood.

office inspiration pics!

My good friend Jennifer, is in the middle of an office re-do. She works from home like I do. I understand her need for a stylishly organized office. When you stare at the same four walls each day, it helps to like what you see. Her office is a guest bedroom in her house, just like mine. She and her husband, Philip, just painted it a light blue. Now she is in the process of buying some items for the office. First off is a new rug. Needs to be functional with an office chair, but look good too! Here are the pictures she sent me. These are inspiring her re-do.

This is from an old issue of Real Simple magazine. I also LOVE this room. Even had it in my inspiration book of magazine tear outs. I knew exactly what she was talking about when she described it over the phone. The crisp whites, blues, and greens are great!

This is a picture of Erin's house over at Elements of Style . I really like her style. We have the two West Elm pillows on the left pic. Also, I feel like the architecture styles/layout of our homes are similar, so I am drawn to her decor. The office is also very crisp, & organized. Love the little zebra rug.

This picture is obviously not an office, I know. I think it was color inspiration for her. Not exactly sure where this picture came from, but I would guess Erin over at House of Turquoise has it posted somewhere on her blog! This makes me want to re-do my master bedroom now! The lamps are also similar to ours in our living room. {Love all things pale aqua glass now!}. Pottery Barn also has a new lamp for $99 like this!
I am also trying to talk her into a seagrass rug. They are so easy to keep clean, especially with animals. Jenn and Philip have a black lab, Cody, and a calico cat named Fluffy. If you live near Griffin, American Mills Outlet has basketweave rugs. They are cheaper at the outlet than on the website. That's all for now, have a great Thursday!

weekend projects...

This weekend we went to Atlanta for my sister's birthday, and had a great dinner at a French restuarant, Anis. We had to get home early on Saturday morning for Charles to go to a meeting, so I decided to tackle a few crafty projects I had on my list. The first one is my corkboard. This is the before picture. It hangs over my desk in my office. I have heard other bloggers call them "inspiration" boards. Mine was definitely not inspirational! Junky & unattractive...


My old plan was to make a frame for the board out of old trim from our house. Plans changed when I saw this idea, I knew it was {1} easier to make {2} cheap b/c I already had the fabric & nail heads & {3} the best looking board idea!

Her board in her office is basically the same. Light fabric with dark brass nail heads.

There is nothing better than starting a project that you already have ALL of the required tools! While Charles was at his meeting, Lane & Sophie helped me put this thing together. They mainly helped by walking over it! I had to do two layers of the white linen, because it was a little see through. Then, I used a staple gun to put the fabric on. The last & longest step, was to push in each nail head into the cork board. It is very hard to get them straight & evenly spaced!


This is the final result! I love it, really brightens up my {already bright} office! Now, all I need to do is hang the board. It has been propped up on my desk for 2.5 years! I tried to thin out the things I have on the board, and left space to add more. I am so happy with the look of the nail heads!

The next project was to turn this old ceiling tile into a chalk board for our kitchen. I bought this tile about 5 years ago at Lakewood Antiques Market {when it was still on the southside}. This thing has been moved all around this house, and my old house in Newnan. It mainly resides in our attic. I have never been able to figure out what to do with it. Thought about painting a "J" on it, but knew I wouldn't make it look right. Saturday, it hit me~paint with chalk board paint, so I did. Here is the before.

Here is the after. It is a small chalk board area, but I thought perfect for the kitchen. I think it works! Charles likes it too...

The last project of the weekend, was the front door knocker. Will post on that later this week! Off to have my truck towed with it's dead battery, fun...
