new shop!

I am so excited! This is my newest logo, and this is what it's for.
The Antique Griffin is a store that has booths owned by different sellers. All things ranging from antiques to home decor and other trinkets. Charles and I have always loved shopping there. The inventory is always changing. My friend, Kay, has had a booth there for awhile. She was ready to upgrade to a larger space, and asked if I wanted to split it. Of course! My dreams of owning a retail shop start here...
I got the website below, but for now have it link to this blog. I will be posting new items that I'll be putting in the shop. Today, Charles helped me take some things to get it started. Since I love all things logo, I had to create one for my new little shop. S. Lane comes from my dogs names. I am a little dog crazy as you can tell with the Whippet silhouettes.

project runway...

Project runway, six year old style. Friday night was my niece, Delaney's, 6th birthday party at the Nancy Jones School of Dance in Americus. Charles and I loaded up the girls, and headed south for the party. Kim {Delaney's mom & my sister-in-law} did a fabulous job planning and decorating her cute model party.

These were the invitations, so realistic! I'm sure it's just like an invite to a show at Fashion Week in NYC!

This is the run way. Kim created the name backdrop.

Her awesome birthday cake, again, created by Kim!

Each girl got a blingin' ring from the cake. {I wore mine all night!}

The paparazzi. {Standing up in the number 5 shirt is brother Davis}

Delaney's practice walk. She worked it!

This was the final line up once the lights came on. My camera was having trouble getting pics while the lights were down. It was a fun night. My other niece & nephew came down from Atlanta with my sister, Lauren. We had an after party dinner across the street at The Station. Then it was back to Griffin on Saturday am for the UGA game. we should've stayed in Americus!

Last random pic. On my walk around the block with Davis and his paparazzi friends, I took this picture through the window of Mary Baldwin Antiques. If you ever drive through downtown Americus, you must stop in here. It is a great shop, also where I registered for some great wedding gifts back in the day. Have a great week!

surprising finds at Kmart!!!

I saw an ad for Kmart's new Country Living line of furniture in last weekend's paper. Finding an affordable accent chair like this has been nearly imposible. This linen accent chair is only $99! It is covered with linen and trimed in nailheads. These would be great in our living room. Wish they had armless versions so I could use for dining room chairs.

This tray table is $69.
Sorry the picture is so small! The desk/vanity is a great price @ $149.

Round table $59 {Closer view of chair}

This photo shows the linen covered bench, with nailheads! It's only $99. I am loving all things with nailheads!

While I was on their site, I checked out all the furniture. This chinese red screen is pretty cool. It's $449.

The most surprising find. Kmart's version of a Ghost Chair. I think the price is for the pair. Still a lot of money, but not as bad as the real thing! $358.

I may be making a trip to my closest Kmart {probably Macon} in the near future. I am impressed!!

real affordable roman shades

One more post about Christine's house. She found this great fabric at Americal Mills Outlet, here in Griffin. They have a great fabric selection, and they usually have clearance fabrics. I think she got a few yards of this for about $6 per yard. This picture is in her office/den. She had 2 cheap Ikea roman shades. I can't find the website where there were directions for covering an existing roman shade with fabric and fabric glue, that's it! Custom roman shades are so expensive, that I think this a a great option. She did a great job, I love the final result!
I didn't see the shade on Ikea today, but they do have a roller shade for $7.99 that you could also cover. Target has a ivory, jute, roman shade starting at $22, could do the same thing. I will keep looking for the DIY site.
