SSI Coastal Living Idea House

Great Views of the Coast!

Well, one of the pictures from yesterday was the Coastal Living 2003 Idea House. The house was designed by architect, Keith Summerour. I found a website online with pictures of the house. It is right on the beach, and in a great location. I would LOVE to be living there:)
The site for more pictures of this house is, http://www.ideahousessi.com/.

Memorial Day Weekend in SSI!

We had a fun time in St. Simons this past weekend. We had plenty of pool & beach time! Charles and I decided the best way to cruise the neighborhoods to look at houses was to rent a strange contraption... These aren't the best pics, but some cute beach houses. I think the 3rd one is the Coastal Living Idea house! We love the driveway on the first house.

Paint Colors....

Why is it so hard to choose paint colors, especially for the outside of your house! My friend, Christine, has been working (very quickly) to choose a new color scheme for her & Kyle's house. I will post before and after pictures when they are done. It made me think I should post a few pics of houses that I like the color!

UGA Experiment Gardens...in Griffin!

We took the girls out for a Sunday stroll to see the beautiful experiment gardens at the University of Georgia campus here in Griffin. Griffin really does have some hidden gems that not many of us know about!

Relay for Life

I am off to the Griffin Relay for Life at Spalding High School. We will be walking through out the night to raise money for the American Cancer Society. I will be very tired tomorrow:) Have a great weekend! Will leave you with a few whippet pics!

Renovation turns to decoration

We are finally complete with our new master bath/closet renovation in our house. We still have a few minor things to do like hanging towel bars, etc. I am now in the stressful stage of decorating the new master bedroom. It is a completely blank slate with white walls and trim. So far I have coral burlap curtain panels, and a few yards of an accent fabric. I really like the pintuck bedding from ZGallerie, http://www.zgallerie.com/pc-7609-6-pintuck-bedding-collection.aspx. And I found the pillows at West Elm. I am considering ordering the coral one for either the bed, or a chair. http://www.westelm.com/online/store/ProductDisplay?partNumber=WE-PRODr695&storeId=17001&langId=-1&catalogId=17002&viewSetCode=E&parentId=WE-SH1RUGPIL&retainNav=true&cmsrc=WE-SH1RUGPIL. I found my burlap panels on sale at Ballard Designs, http://www.ballarddesigns.com/, and last I have a great lower priced version of Kelly Wearstler's Imperial Trellis fabric in Citrine. This version is reversable!! Only $11/yd. You can find the fabric here, http://getyourfabric.com/products/view/1/fabric/2303. I will start posting pics of the actual room when more progress has been made. Have a great weekend!!

Expanding my education

I just took a class on surviving in the real estate market during tough times. It was yesterday in Atlanta with Seth Weissman. It was a very informative, 6 hour class covering topics including:: foreclosures, auctions, short sales, & new changes in our real estate contracts. I realized it is well worth the money, and the drive to take a class with him. I also came home with my personally autographed copy of the Red Book on Real Estate Contracts in Ga!! I did use this book some while in Newnan at Parks & Mottola, so I knew it would come in handy.

Weekend in NC

Charles and I spent the weekend with our friends Miller & Rhonda in Linville, NC. We had a great time hiking, eating, & exploring the area. We didn't make it to any of the antique shops we passed, but maybe next time!

Setting the Stage...

Door mats are much more chic than the used to be. With all of the great options out there, why not update your entry way. When a home is for sale, potential buyers have time to check out the entryway to your home (usually while waiting on their agent to get the key out of the lockbox). Check out some of these cute ideas.

Fabulous Furniture

These are some pieces of furniture I have seen that I really like! The first piece is a chest from Drexel Heritage. The second pic is my friend Leslie's great new sofa from a store in Atlanta. I obviously love painted furniture, these end tables are the best! I am loving the bright green fabric on the chalky white chair. I am finished with my first day of design blogging, the whippets are hungry for dinner!

More bathroom pics

bathroom renovation

Our new bathroom has taken lots of time & energy, but I am pleased with the final result. Here are some pics.

My Biggest Project to Date!

I have to give my husband, Charles, a lot of credit for choosing such a cute cottage with great potential many years ago!! I am loving the progress of how far our house has come. I will be posting pictures of the before & after. My work is never done, so I figure my house alone will be enough to get this blog going. The first picture is during our renovation, the second is the original.

Brand New Design Blog

My interest in decorating & design has been slowly growing over the years while selling real estate. I have been in some absolutely beautiful homes to get great ideas. I have also been in some homes that could use a little help in the decor arena. As an agent, it is my job to sell homes & properties that are in types of condition. I would like to use my love of home decor & style to help some of these properties sell! I plan to start taking classes in staging to help me in this new side of Griffin Realty.
