Coastal Christmas

Yesterday we bought our tree. It's up, and pretty much finished. I need to get a few more starfish, and then I'll post some pics. Over the past few years, I have been collecting teal, light green, and silver ornaments. Finally, my house decor allows me to use these, and not reds and golds. I am so excited, and love having the tree up! We found a nice slender one, since our room is small. Here are some good Christmas pics.

This room above is awesome, with or without the Christmas decor!
Saved this one awhile back from Real Simple via Chic Coles

I bought a small paperwhite bulb kit yesterday at Lowe's for $6. We'll see how they grow!

This might be good to do in our room, or guest room.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a terrific day!

This store really got me in a festive Thanksgiving mood. I think these are some cute options for the big day!
*decoupage turkey tray above

These are from the Pheasant Collection

How cute is this little guy?

Maybe this little quail needs a bottle of Wild Turkey...

This is not really for Thanksgiving, was just too cute to leave out.

Turkey, tumbled, tile, trivet~say that one fast

Have a little Thanksgiving year round with this Tom turkey painting.

See everyone next week. Don't eat too much!

old habits die hard...

My love of all things horses will never cease to exist. I like to think of my style as fresh and new, but show me something with a hunt scene on it, and I picture a dark brown dining room with lots of this.

While registering for wedding gifts at Mary Baldwin in Americus, I saw my first piece of this century hunt china. Remember, I have mentioned Mary Baldwin before at the bottom of this post.
This would actually blend with our blues, aquas, and greens.

Not that we're getting any, just window shopping :)
Who doesn't love a good soup tureen?

All of this came about when I stumbled upon Kevin's Fine Outdoor Gear & Apparel . They sell Century Hunt. Source of the pictures. This pattern below is Fox Hunt Whimsical.

Very cute! Especially the tart tray below.

These hunt scene plates are also courtesy of Kevin's.

Kevin's is located in Thomasville, Georgia. It's one of my new favorite stores! More to come tomorrow...

pets on furniture

desire to inspire does a weekly pets on furniture Monday post. Last week I sent in a few pics. I could send in a different picture with a dog on a piece of our furniture, probably for the next 10 years! Click the link above, and scroll down. You will find 2 cute Whippets. For those of you who know me, you'll understand why these pictures are particularly special.

town of lost rabbit

I have new homes on the brain. This weekend, I flipped through tons of old magazines, and found nothing very inspiring in the way of exterior design. A year or so ago, I ran across this site for the Town of Lost Rabbit. Lost Rabbit is a mixed use community located in Madison County, Mississippi. Remembering the site, and one of the architects, I checked it out again. This picture below is one of the model homes.

I really hope to have a large, bright, and open kitchen one day.

I love the ceiling in this room, and the open connection to the kitchen.

This would be a perfect work space.

This is a home that is currently listed for sale.
You can see the listing here.
I don't know if this style fits in with Griffin, but I really like it!

My house hunt is specifically for old looking new homes. You all know that I love serenbe so much. Since we aren't moving to serenbe anytime soon, maybe we can build a serenbe style house one day.
Hope you all are getting ready for Thanksgiving. I don't have any Thanksgiving post ideas since we are neither having folks over or decorating for it. We will be on the road from Tuesday to Saturday. This may end up being a slow week for the old blog.
Have a great Monday!

okay, now I'm ready for winter!

Found this great deal yesterday. Only one in my size, Christine got it. She offered to share, but I had to have one of my very own. Went back today, and they checked the warehouse. Musst be my lucky day! Original list price of $99 from Delias. Found at a secret location for $25! Now we are stylishy awaiting the cold. We just have to make sure not to wear at the same time.

Maybe I need that hat? Then I will look 12 like her! Just kidding...

DIY sewing projects

I just finished a few sewing projects. Since receiving the latest Ballard Designs I have been wanting to make burlap Christmas stockings. Four or five years ago, I made two of these, again inspired by Ballard at the time.

I used this as my pattern to cut my burlap. Last week, I bought brown and white burlap. I plan to make two stockings for Sophie and Savannah, then a few extra to sell in my booth at the Antique Griffin. {The Antique Griffin is having their holiday open house this Friday-Sunday}

These are the two we are keeping. Wanted to match the decor. I have decided to paint both wood "S" letters white.

Here's the start of another color.

Awhile ago, I bought these fabric samples from American Mills. One was a zebra set with a few different colorways, and the other the bamboo design. Each group was only $1! I had no idea what I would use them for back then. I am also using twine for the loop to hang the stockings.

Project 2:: Silky blankets for the girls.

This is wool yarn from Joann Fabrics. I love the mix of colors.
These blankets are small, maybe 2' x 4.5'

I couldn't find any great colors of satin, so I went with white. I sewed two pieces of satin with batting in the middle. Then, I tied the yarn throughout the blanket to hold the batting.

These pictures aren't great. Tough to photograph satin. I tried to get a close-up of the yarn knots. Each knot has a little turquoise, and the natural color.

Sophie approved.

textile tuesday!

Today's textile tuesday is all about zebra stipes. I am always on the lookout for a good one to mix into our living room. Also, I have thought about using some on our dining room chairs. {I am having trouble deciding what fabric and paint color to use on our chairs} Here are some inspiration pictures from Erin's dining room @ elements of style
She has a post on her blog about repainting and covering these. So, this is one option, paint our chairs white, and cover with a zebra print. I will post more pictures and options on another day.

This photo below is actually a shower curtain I found on Amazon. I like larger zebra prints.

We could also go this direction. This is Sudan Linen from Lewis & Sheron.

or Bangal from Lewis & Sheron. This color would match our sofa color.
Reminds me of this chair from Horchow
This is Highland Court flax artichoke

This is from Etsy

One more from Etsy. Might be a little too bright, but I like it.
