subscription vs. shelf

I am apparently bad luck when it comes to a decorating magazine's well being. I usually buy magazines at book stores & drug stores because it is more fun to flip through them all as opposed to having a subscription. I guess over the past few years I have spent too much $, & maybe had a little bit of a magazine addiction. For Christmas a few years ago, Charles' parents gave me a subscription to Southern Living. I LOVE getting them in the mailbox! So I decided last year after waiting so long, to order my own. I started with Cottage Living...Soon after, I received notice that it was discontinuing the mag. Major depression, luckily I have been saving & stockpiling Cottage Living mags over the past 3-4 years. My dream was to have my house featured in the mag, but couldn't get it finished before they went under. The next subscription I tried was Domino. Again, have been collecting Domino mags over few years. I loved how different Domino was. Soon after ordering, I received the sad notice again!! Did I mention that Cottage Living substituted my subscription with Southern Accents. Sadly, I read on a blog last night that Southern Accents is the next one to take the hit. I think I have subscribed to Coastal Living, so I am praying they do not go under too. If so, it is back to buying off the shelf for me!

cool ranch...

I love this house, saw it in a magazine:: I think Southern Living. Anyway, makes me want to find an old ranch home so I can recreate this great look!

painting projects

{Paint Project 1} I have painted our screen door 8 times since our renovation. I finally found this Benjamin Moore color in a magazine. It is a light blue/green. Our original color was a light, cool blue. I didn't like it with the new copper roof. We have been through some bad ones, and I am finally happy! So happy, that I went ahead and painted the actual front door so I will be less likely to change my mind again. Next project:: replace dead boxwoods on front stoop. Also keeping my eyes peeled for 2 Whippet statues.

{Paint Project 2} I love a can of spray paint! I finally painted the firescreen in our living room. It is an old screen that Charles probably got when he bought the house. It was originally gold, then I painted black a few years ago. Since I am slowly phasing out black, I decided to paint it gray. I was sad, because a few months ago there was a spray paint that was a gray/brown/olive color. Would have been a perfect black replacment, but all I could find was a basic gray. I am happy with the results, my plan is to make it fade into the background. I will continue to look for that great gray/brown/olive color......

Updated Bedroom & Bathroom pics

I finally made a pillow for the bed, bought new euro shams (from Linens n' Things, but similar to the ones I liked at ZGallerie), and bought a longer bedskirt. The room is coming together with my imposter, Imperial Trellis fabric!!
